Cash Currency

Select the currency used by the hotel — for example, if you are staying at a hotel in Dubai, select UAE Dirhams (AED). The currency will be converted to USD for the D$ calculation. The actual exchange rate used by GHA may differ slightly from the rate used here, resulting in a small difference in estimated D$.

Total Cash (excl. Tax)

Enter the total stay cost excluding taxes and fees, as shown on the hotel booking site or final invoice. D$ are earned on the pre-tax room rate only — taxes, service fees, and tips are excluded.

Total Cash (incl. Tax)

Enter the total stay cost including taxes and fees. This field is used for the return-on-spend calculation.

D$ Required

This field is auto-calculated based on your pre-tax stay cost. Because each D$1 is worth exactly US$1, the D$ required to cover your stay equals your pre-tax room rate. Taxes and fees cannot be paid with D$ and are shown separately in the Award Fees / Taxes field.

Cash Taxes & Fees

This field is auto-calculated as the difference between your tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive costs. D$ can only offset the base room rate — taxes, service fees, and tips must always be paid in cash, even on an award stay.

Status

Select your GHA Discovery membership tier. Your tier determines the percentage of qualifying spend earned back as D$:
Silver — 4% back. Entry level upon joining (free to join).
Gold — 5% back. Earned after 2 stays or $1,000 spend in a year.
Platinum — 6% back. Earned after 10 nights, $5,000 spend, or stays at 2 brands.
Titanium — 7% back. Earned after 30 nights, $15,000 spend, or stays at 3 brands.

Offers

Active GHA Discovery promotions are listed here. GHA runs frequent brand-specific and regional D$ promotions — check any offer you have registered for and that applies to your stay. Deadlines and stay windows are shown where applicable. Select the Custom Offer option to enter a new or targeted offer. You can choose from a flat D$ bonus per stay, per night, or a multiplier of your total D$ earned.

Nights

This field only appears when needed to calculate D$ from an offer that is based on nights stayed.

Extra D$

Use this field for any additional D$ not covered by the other fields — for example, a targeted email offer or app booking bonus.

D$ Value

Each D$1 is worth exactly US$1.00. This is a fixed value and cannot be changed. D$ can be redeemed at checkout to reduce your bill — they can be applied towards the base room rate, room upgrades, dining, spa, and other eligible charges. D$ cannot be used towards taxes, service fees, or tips.

Comparison Results

After clicking Compare, two cards show the effective cost of each option. Cash shows your out-of-pocket cost minus the D$ you would earn. D$ shows the dollar equivalent of the D$ you would spend (at the fixed D$1 = US$1 rate) plus the taxes and fees that must be paid in cash. The option with the lowest net cost is marked “Best value.” Because D$ have a fixed value, the comparison essentially shows whether the D$ earned on a cash stay outweigh the savings from using D$ to cover the room rate.

Not Included in the Calculator

Non-room earning: D$ can also be earned on eligible dining and spa spend at participating hotels. These on-property earning categories are not included — the calculator only estimates D$ earned on room rates.

D$ expiry: D$ expire after 12 months for Silver, 18 months for Gold, and 24 months for Platinum and Titanium members. Promotional D$ expire after 6 months. Expiry is not factored into the calculator.
