How to use the Melia Rewards Earn Calculator

Cash Currency

Select the currency used by the hotel — for example, if you are staying at a hotel in Barcelona, select Euros (EUR). The currency will be converted to USD for the points calculation. The actual exchange rate used by Melia may differ slightly from the rate used here, resulting in a small difference in estimated points.

Total Cash (excl. Tax)

Enter the total stay cost excluding taxes and fees, as shown on the hotel booking site or final invoice. Melia Rewards base points are earned on the pre-tax room rate only — taxes and fees are excluded.

Total Cash (incl. Tax)

Enter the total stay cost including taxes and fees. This field is used for the return-on-spend calculation.

Points Required

Enter the number of Melia Rewards points needed to book your stay as a reward night. You can find this on Melia.com by searching for your hotel and dates and selecting the points rate. Melia uses dynamic pricing for awards — costs vary by hotel, room type, and demand. Leave this blank if you only want to calculate points earned on a cash stay.

Points + Cash

If you want to compare a hybrid redemption, enter the points and cash portions here. Both fields are optional — if left blank, the comparison will only show cash vs. full award.

Rate Type

Select the type of room rate you booked:
Standard Rate — Normal room booking; points are earned at the standard base rate.
Bravos (Suite / Villa) — When booking a suite or villa through the Melia Bravos programme, you earn 20% extra base points on top of the standard earning rate.

Status

Select your Melia Rewards elite tier. All members earn a base rate of 10 points per $1 spent (before any status bonus or rate type bonus). Your status adds a percentage bonus on top of the base points:
White — Entry level upon joining (free to join); no bonus on base points.
Silver — Adds a 10% bonus. Earned after 2 stays, 5 nights, or 10,000 points.
Gold — Adds a 30% bonus. Earned after 15 stays, 30 nights, or 60,000 points.
Platinum — Adds a 40% bonus. Earned after 30 stays, 50 nights, or 150,000 points.
The bonus applies to base hotel points only — promo points are not multiplied.

Offers

Active Melia Rewards promotions are listed here. Check any offer that applies to your stay. Deadlines and stay windows are shown where applicable. Select the Custom Offer option to enter a new or targeted offer. You can choose from a fixed amount of bonus points per stay, per night, or a multiplier of the total base points.

Nights

This field only appears when needed to calculate points from an offer that is based on nights stayed.

Extra Points

Use this field for any additional points not covered by the other fields — for example, a targeted email offer or the 2,000-point new member welcome bonus.

Earn As

Melia Rewards points can be converted to airline miles after earning. If you plan to transfer your points, select a partner programme to see the equivalent miles and their estimated value. Conversion rates vary by partner:
Avios (British Airways, Iberia, Vueling, AerClub) — 30% rate (1,000 Melia points = 300 Avios).
Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles — 20% rate (1,000 points = 200 Lotusmiles).
Miles & More — ~17% rate (1,000 points ≈ 167 Miles).
Points can be converted in multiples of 100. Note that promotional and purchased points cannot be transferred to airline partners — only points earned from hotel stays are eligible. Select Melia Rewards Points to see your earning valued as Melia points instead.

Point Value

The assumed value of one Melia Rewards point in US cents, used to convert your earned points into an estimated cash equivalent. The default of 0.6¢ per point reflects a reasonable average redemption value. When earning as airline miles, a separate point value field appears for the selected airline currency.

Comparison Results

After clicking Compare, three cards show the effective cost of each option. Cash shows your out-of-pocket cost minus the value of points you would earn. Points converts the points spent to a dollar value using your chosen point valuation, plus any fees. Points + Cash combines the cash paid with the dollar value of points used. The option with the lowest net cost is marked “Best value.” A higher point value favors cash stays (your points are worth more kept), while a lower point value favors using points.

Not Included in the Calculator

Non-hotel earning: Melia Rewards points can also be earned through dining, spa services, and partner activities. These earning methods are not covered here — the calculator only estimates points earned on room rates.
